Our Trip to Tahoe

We had a wonderful 5 days in Lake Tahoe. I had forgotten how amazing it is when there is no snow. We took an awesome 2.2 mile walk around Spooner Lake. The quaking elms were so enchanting and brilliant. The girls love to hike and had an awesome time writing letters in the dirt, looking for scorpions with daddy, and just enjoying the outdoors. We saw the most beautiful hawk perched up in a pine tree. He came swooping by us and we just stood in awe watching him.
One day we hung out at this little park on the beach where the girls took a little swim with John and Scarlett met a friend. There was a cool park with slides and the works and they had a blast playing with the other kids.
The weather was unusually warm and sunny. We took a big paddle boat called the M.S. Dixie out on tour to Emerald Bay and back. The background scenery looked so good it seemed fake. After the boat ride we stopped at a casino and the girls played arcade games with grandma and uncle victor while we lost some money. Needless to say, we didn't stay long but it was fun while it lasted.
It was Linda's birthday so we went to the west side to a little European bakery and picked up a scrumptious chocolate raspberry cake. After that we stopped to see a protected fishery. On one of the days we took a drive down to South Lake and took a walk on the Rainbow Trail. It was getting late in the day and was so cool. The fish were spawning and were a bright red. There were tons in this little shallow creek and you could stand on the edge and look in at them. We found out that after spawning the parents die, which would explain all the dead ones. It must be a feast after sunset. There were many people arriving with big professional looking cameras so I guess it is a popular spot this time of year.
Our condo was great and we barbequed, played horseshoes, and the girls climbed rocks in the forest out back.
All in all, a grand time was had by all and we hope to visit again in the next season to see how it has changed.
