Kunstler is rad!

As usual, James Howard Kunstler puts it all in perspective with tongue in cheek, but not really though...Another day, another reason for me to plant a bigger garden, stock up on emergency supplies, act like a crazy doomer, along with my usual housewifey behavior. It is amazing how I can balance all of it with a straight face. Okay, so maybe my balance isn't perfect, I did just get over a super ear infection. Hey, that reminds me to check on the status of how human made viruses are going to be spread to reduce the population...so much to do so little reality to do it in.

Have a blog...now what...a bit of rambling on water, eh.

So, now I have a blog and must think of quirky and interesting things to say on it. Today has been an utterly lazy day. Amazingly, I think I spent at least 8 hours on the internet going from my google reader to facebook to my email to the weather channel. Apparently, rain makes you do stupid things...

I have decided I really need to get a home water filter...after reading this list of water contaminants and their accepted levels. It was actually quite unacceptable to me. Now maybe I am a bit of a perfectionist at times but I really cannot settle for ANY arsenic, aspestos, cyanide, lead, mercury, and nitrates in my drinking water. There simply must be a product out there that does it all.
I was first convinced that the reverse osmosis system was by far the greatest at filtering, and it may well be, except that it wastes 4 to 9 gallons of water for every gallon produced. Now that seems to go against my goal to be super hippie sustainable girl. Especially since I am trying to conserve on water. There is also an abundance of water propaganda out there to help debunk myths and sway you to their specially formulated filtering system.
So, I have decided to go with Multi-Pure as it seems to take everything out of the water except for the beneficial minerals. God knows we couldn't be missing those or we might have to add more supplements to our diet. Only thing is it is a mlm business which makes me a bit nervous. So, a must watch is the movie Flow: For the love of water. It will make anyone crazy in the head over how to deal with the impending doom of water shortage. More on my issues with rain water 'harvesting' later...
